Wait, People Are Cleaning an Entire Moon?

Moon Sweepers, from two-person studio DragDrop Games, launched on Steam on October 23, 2026, and the pitch is exactly as silly as it sounds: the moon is covered in dust, somebody has to clean it, and that somebody is you. You start with nothing but a toothbrush, scrub up lunar dust, and sell it back at depots for cash.

It's a co-op job sim in the same spirit as Powerwash Simulator, except the "level" is a whole celestial body and up to 16 players can tackle it together.

From Toothbrush to Fleet of Cleaning Machines

The money you earn from selling dust goes straight back into better gear: brooms, then vacuums, then bigger machines and vehicles that chew through far more of the moon's surface per trip. German outlet mein-mmo reported SteamDB numbers showing more than 50,000 people playing at once just days after launch, with over 25,000 still on shift scrubbing dust during a random Tuesday morning check.

The Reviews Are Mostly Glowing (With One Recurring Gripe)

On Steam the game sits at 79% positive across just over 2,000 reviews, landing it a "Mostly Positive" rating. Players keep describing it as cozy and oddly satisfying, with the toothbrush-to-machine progression doing a lot of the heavy lifting.

  • The core complaint: upgrades arrive quickly relative to how much of the moon you've actually cleaned, and the bigger machines don't scale their cleaning power enough to make finishing the whole moon feel realistic.
  • It's priced at $8.99, which is a pretty low bar for a game currently punching above games with AAA marketing budgets on the top-sellers chart.

Who it's for: anyone who liked the loop of Powerwash Simulator or Viscera Cleanup Detail and wants to do it with up to 15 friends, on a much bigger and much dustier canvas.

Our take

This is a great example of a tiny, weird idea beating out nine-figure marketing budgets purely on the strength of a good hook and a good co-op loop. "Clean the whole moon" is the kind of absurd, screenshot-ready premise that spreads on its own, and DragDrop Games clearly leaned into that instead of trying to compete on scope. Whether it has the content depth to hold 16-player lobbies past the first few weeks is the real question, but as a launch week story it's one of the more fun surprises on Steam right now.
