007 First Light launched back on May 27, 2026 for PC, PS5 and Xbox Series, and it's somehow still showing up on Steam's global top sellers chart this week. The game reimagines Bond's origin story, following a young, reckless naval aviator who gets pulled into a revived Double-0 program and ends up teaming up with a reluctant mentor to unravel a conspiracy. On Steam it's holding a "Very Positive" rating from close to 19,000 reviews, which is a pretty solid result for a licensed action-adventure nearly half a year out from release.
The Switch 2 port keeps slipping
The version a lot of people have actually been waiting on is the Nintendo Switch 2 port, and IO Interactive just pushed it back again. On October 14, the studio confirmed the Switch 2 release is now locked in for March 18, 2027, after an earlier Summer 2026 window quietly came and went. Pre-orders are open, but anyone hoping to play Bond on the go this year is out of luck for a while yet.

Meanwhile, PC players got a graphics upgrade
While Switch 2 owners wait, PC players already got a notable update: a mid-September patch added path tracing and NVIDIA DLSS 4.5 support for compatible GeForce RTX cards, giving the game's lighting a serious glow-up. It's part of a broader Year One content plan IO Interactive laid out earlier this year, which includes:
- New story content, including a DLC mission titled "Bawma Will Return" featuring Lenny Kravitz reprising his role as the Pirate King.
- Ongoing Tactical Simulation (TacSim) challenges set in new locations, plus gadget upgrades and new weapons.
- A New Game+ mode for the main campaign, which the studio says it's still exploring rather than confirming outright.

This one's for fans of story-driven, mission-based spy action who don't mind a slow trickle of post-launch content, and Switch 2 owners should plan on spring 2027 rather than holding their breath any sooner.
Our take
It says something that 007 First Light is still charting on Steam nearly five months after release, since licensed games usually fade fast once the launch window passes. The repeated Switch 2 delays are a little concerning for how that port is actually running, but pushing it again instead of shipping something janky is the right call. The more interesting story is that IO Interactive seems genuinely committed to supporting this one long-term with real content rather than moving straight on to the next project, which is rarer than it should be for this kind of single-player licensed release.
