Mistfall Hunter price and system requirements Read our reviewMistfall Hunter is a third-person dark fantasy extraction ARPG from Bellring Games, published by Skystone Games. It launched on Steam, PlayStation, and Xbox on July 29, 2026, with a pretty simple hook: pick a class, drop into a dangerous map solo or with up to two teammates, loot everything you can grab, and try to walk out alive instead of losing it all to whatever's hunting you.
Huge numbers, mixed reception
Here's the strange part. Steam's user reviews for Mistfall Hunter currently sit at "Mixed," hovering around 69 percent positive across roughly 4,400 reviews. That's not the kind of score that usually points to staying power. And yet in its first week, concurrent Steam players peaked above 44,000, and Bellring Games and Skystone later announced the game had crossed one million players across PC, Xbox Series X|S, and Xbox Cloud Gaming. Whatever's keeping people logging in, it isn't universal critical love.

Season 1 keeps adding reasons to come back
Instead of letting the game coast after launch, the studio has been rolling out a Season 1 content plan in phases:
- Early August: a client update opened the harder Einherjar difficulty for Mist Lord fights and bumped certain rare drop rates.
- Mid-August: the Soul Harvest event went live across every map and difficulty tier.
- September: a test version of Brandrgarde Solo Mode arrived alongside the Underlord Speed Challenge.
- October and beyond: Phase 3 is set to bring the Golden Woodling and an Ancestor Tree match event.
There's also a new weapon type on the way, the Blackarrow Javelin, which shares some skills with the Bow and is meant to give that class more to work with at close range. A Season 2 is already teased, with a new theme, a seasonal battle pass, and expanded story quests, though Skystone hasn't attached a release date to it yet.

Who it's for
If you like extraction shooters but want melee-heavy combat, classes, and a grimmer fantasy skin on the formula, Mistfall Hunter is worth a look, especially with Season 1 still actively adding content three months in. Just know going in that the Steam reviews are genuinely split, so it won't click for everyone.
Our take
Mistfall Hunter is a useful reminder that review scores and actual engagement do not always move together: a "Mixed" rating has not stopped a million-plus players from sticking around three months after launch. The steady drip of Season 1 content, rather than one big post-launch dump, looks like the smarter play for keeping an extraction game alive once the launch hype fades. Whether that holds once Season 2 actually drops with no date in sight is the real test.
