What is Battlefield™ 6?
Battlefield 6 is a first-person military shooter developed by Battlefield Studios and published by Electronic Arts, released in October 2025 as the eighteenth entry in the long-running Battlefield series. Its single-player campaign is set in the near future, between 2027 and 2028, following a four-person special forces team named Dagger as a fractured NATO confronts Pax Armata, a private military company, across locations including Brooklyn, Cairo, and Tajikistan. The campaign runs roughly four to six hours and emphasizes a serious, grounded tone over the series' usual large-scale spectacle. The bulk of the game is built around team-based multiplayer for up to 64 players per match, organized into squads of four. Players choose from four classes, Assault, Engineer, Support, and Recon, each with distinct weapons and roles, and can move through environments using a context-sensitive combat system that allows leaning around cover, hitching rides on vehicles, and dragging downed teammates to safety before reviving them. Matches take place across modes such as Conquest, Breakthrough, Rush, Domination, King of the Hill, and the newer Escalation and Sabotage formats, played on large maps that mix infantry combat with vehicles alongside tighter close-quarters combat zones. Buildings and cover can be destroyed to open new routes, though destruction is scaled back from earlier entries to keep maps from being leveled entirely. A heavily reworked Portal mode lets players build and share custom game types and maps using their own rules. The game is aimed at players drawn to large-scale, vehicle-inclusive team shooters, rather than those primarily seeking a lengthy solo campaign.
