What is Godzilla: Destroy All Monsters Melee Remastered?
Godzilla: Destroy All Monsters Melee Remastered is a 3D arena fighting game built in Unreal Engine 5, reviving a 2002 kaiju brawler originally developed by Pipeworks Studios and published by Atari. Players take control of a giant monster drawn from Toho's Godzilla universe and fight across recreated real-world cities, Monster Island, and an alien mothership, in a loosely sketched premise involving extraterrestrial Vortaak forces pitting captured kaiju against one another. The remaster includes twelve playable kaiju, among them several versions of Godzilla, King Ghidorah, Mechagodzilla, Rodan, and Destoroyah, each with melee attacks, ranged energy blasts, and a special Rage Mode move set. The core loop centers on brawling opponents through fully destructible environments: skyscrapers, bridges, and other structures can be grabbed, thrown, or demolished as part of combat, while military units occasionally intervene during fights. Eight locations, each with day and night variants, host the action. Beyond the main single-player campaign, every kaiju now has its own dedicated solo campaign, and an overhauled unlock system lets players unlock monsters, stages, and gallery content in any order rather than a fixed sequence. Multiplayer is a central draw: the remaster adds online play alongside local split-screen and cooperative modes for up to four players, something the original GameCube and Xbox releases lacked. The game suits fans of kaiju media and casual party-style fighters more than competitive fighting-game enthusiasts, given its emphasis on spectacle and destruction over technical depth. It supports Windows PC alongside PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, and Nintendo Switch 2.
